Ofsted and School Performance
There is a strong family ethos at St John’s!
We are pleased to share our latest Ofsted report, from July 2024. We’re proud of how far we've come since our last inspection, and that our efforts in Personal Development, Early Years and Behaviour and Attitudes, in particular, have proved so fruitful. Ofsted recognised that we have “implemented necessary improvements” and we are very clear on what we need to do next. We’re pleased that it’s been officially acknowledged that we have “rightly identified” what to focus on to improve the quality of education and we assure you that we will rigidly follow our detailed action plan to continue to provide the very best educational experience for your children.
Here are some of Ofsted’s comments that we are pleased they recognised:
- Strong family ethos
- Calm, harmonious atmosphere
- Pupils feel safe in school
- Safeguarding is effective
- Staff know the pupils well and effective support helps all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), to access the same learning.
- The early years environment is vibrant and stimulating
- Learning is ordered logically so that pupils can build on what they already know and can do
- Vision for high-quality education in all subject areas
Our priorities now are to:
- Purchase new reading books that align more effectively with phonics
- Promote the importance of high attendance and punctuality, discouraging term time holidays, and recognising the links between high attendance and achievement.
- Build on our recent focus on subject leadership to ensure that all leaders are able to identify what is working effectively in their subjects
